SPS Hailsham competed in this year’s Lewes to Newhaven Raft race and after a few months in the making, we embarked on our boats Maiden Voyage.
This race is not for the faint hearted and once the tide had turned, we set sail to an immediate barrage of eggs and flour bombs from the thousands of folk that scattered the riverbank and bridges.
Once through the worst of it in Lewes town centre, the “SPS Oceans 13” powered their way along the 8.4-mile course. (Adam Jarrett, Dan Smith, Will Taylor, Myles Hanmore, Andy & Cody Grice, Bob & Robyn Taylor, Kev Goodwin, Nutra boys Ryan, Elliott & Matt, Johnny Bartlett on the rudder!)
When we reached the finish line we stepped up to collect First Prize as SPS completed the course in the quickest time! Big thank you to Worcester Bosch for sponsoring the boat and the day for us.
