On a chilly but sunny August day, 30 able(ish) golfers attended the 2nd Bexhill v Hastings Golf day, with individual prizes and the coveted SPS Ryder Cup Trophy at stake! The course proved to be tricky at times with unforgiving rough and plenty of opportunities for people to lose their balls, however, those who kept it to the short stuff found the course to be favourable. Our reigning Champ Danny Ellis was there to defend his title and a stern effort he put in falling short in 3rd on countback with 35 points. In 3rd also on 35 points was Anthony Cooper with his luscious locks. In 2nd proudly wearing his sombrero was Aaron Rowsell and top of the table playing off 8 with some very steady golf with 38 points was the one and only Dan Bates. His tee to green play was exceptional only missing out on some extra points with a couple of putts going the ‘Wopposite Way’ J.Nearest the Pin was won by Club Captain Pat Hanlon, demoted for next year due to his lack of input and Longest Drive went to Steve Rist. I’d like to say he deserved it but he didn’t because he played some truly awful Golf!!In the main event Bexhill won an enthralling competition with Hastings putting up a great fight coming in close with and average score of 21.2 to Bexhill’s 21.6 points.Thank you to all those that attended and made the day what it was. We’ll see you again next year!Neil and Graham!
