During the last 18 months, we have all come to appreciate our homes more than ever, we also appreciate that the hustle and bustle of daily life can mean nothing takes the strain more than our floor. However, there are some modern floorings that are designed to cope with the daily demands of busy family life and this blog is intended to give flooring our full attention.

Karndean flooring is stain-resistant and easy to clean, it can handle water spillages without warping, and a dropped mug or plate without chipping or cracking, at SPS we are big fans of it for use in kitchens and bathrooms where a leak can be catastrophic to some other flooring solutions. Karndean floors are also designed to last, each floor carries a lifetime residential warranty. Should any tile or plank be damaged, a spare can be fitted quickly by an approved installer.

Would you believe it’s not wood?

Wood – or wood effect – flooring has always been popular, but kitchens and bathrooms have always split opinions as to woods suitability as it is easily damaged by water. However, Karndean has created some incredibly sumptuous wood effect floors which are simply stunning. From oak effect herringbone to charred smoky oak, there is a look to suit any room and to add richness to any colour scheme.

Industrial chic

The popularity of industrial undertones in design seems to be gaining traction. Exposed brickwork is a common element used to garner an industrial feel, but other tonal components are finding favour.  Karndean offers warm bronzed flooring options which provide the industrial feel of metal yet are warm underfoot.

The ranges were originally inspired by weathered metals, but the blend of dark tones and subtle patterning allow them to blend seamlessly into any décor.

Bold and beautiful

We have also seen a trend towards muted colour schemes in kitchens and bathrooms, which are paired with a statement flooring choice. Patterned tiles can really give your room the wow factor.

Using a patterned tile on the floor is a great way to add colour and design without it being visually overwhelming. Just pick a pattern that is the correct size for the room. Plan for your bold floor to be the focal point of the room.
